SAN DIEGO BAY WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES DATES FOR 6TH ANNUAL SHOWCASE

Southern California’s Largest Wine & Food Festival Will Take Place November 18-22, 2009

San Diego, CA (April 21, 2009) – Southern California’s most anticipated luxury wine and food event of the year returns November 18-22 for a five-day extravaganza for the ultimate food and wine enthusiast.  While the official line-up of participating celebrity chefs and winemakers will not be announced until late Spring, the 6th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival will feature the city’s top fine dining chefs, hundreds of wines, and culinary celebrities, said Michelle Metter, the Festival’s co-producer.

"The Festival has quickly become one of the most anticipated culinary events of the year," added Metter.  "We are thrilled to host this extravaganza again in San Diego, bringing together 'foodies' from all over the nation with the biggest culinary talent in the city and legendary winemakers and spirits producers from around the world.  As in years past, the week-long Festival will be filled with new classes, tastings and celebrities at the forefront of today's culinary and enology circles."

As the largest wine and food festival in Southern California, the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival features 170 of the world’s top wine and spirits producers, 70 of San Diego’s award-winning fine dining restaurants, celebrity chefs, legendary winemakers, and wine tasting and cooking classes.  The Festival hosts a week of action packed events including the Celebrity Chef Luncheon & AIWF Big Bottle Live Auction, a Reserve & New Release wine tasting, Embarcadero Bay Park Grand Tasting, $50,000 “Chef of the Fest” competition, 15 wine tasting and cooking classes, a Wine Rave, and more! 

The 2008 Festival was a tremendous success, attracting over 8,000 food and wine enthusiasts over the five-day event.  Foodies, winemakers, and chefs from all over the country converged in San Diego to take part in the festivities, selling out events all week.

Proceeds from the event’s live and silent auctions benefit the American Institute of Wine & Food culinary and enology scholarships for students and professionals in San Diego.  The Festival has raised over $120,000 for the AIWF to date.
