Tracy WallaceSommelier - The Wine Encounter
Tracy has had a typical career gals life. Not! After going to college she took job after job; most of which she hated. After being totally bored she dropped out of corporate life, moved in with an order of nuns and enrolled in an eighteen month sommelier program with the International Sommelier Guild. In order to fulfill the requirements of the sommelier program she had to be working in the wine industry, so she took a job as a cashier with a major west coast wine & spirits retailer. She quickly rose through the ranks to the position of Wine Director and Regional Wine Educator. |

Tracy currently works during the day as a wine writer for the Chronicle Newspaper Syndicate, LovetoKnow.com , Vibrant Rioja and The Wine Bank Newsletter. She is also writing two manuscripts: Become a Wine Genius in 5 Minutes or Less, and How to Become Filthy Rich as a Hobby - a Step-By-Step Guide to Wine Collecting, and keeping her fingers crossed that she gets a publisher.
In the evenings she acts as Wine Director and Sommelier with The Wine Encounter in San Diego, CA. The Wine Encounter is the wine bar for adventurous wine lovers. Every night is a party! Tracy holds a seat on the Board of Directors for SDSU ‘s Professional Wine Program, and derives a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction by donating wines to the program from her personal collection. She also teaches several classes for the institution each year. “If someone had told me five years ago, that I would be earning my living by drinking, writing, educating and collecting wine I would have said they were crazy.
