FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARTISTS MICHAEL FLOHR AND ROBERT HOLTON JOIN 6TH ANNUAL SAN DIEGO BAY WINE & FOOD FESTIVA

San Diego, CA (June 2, 2009) – The producers of the San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival (November 18-22, 2009) announced today the selection of the festival artists for the 6th Annual wine and culinary extravaganza.   Southern California natives, Michael Flohr and Robert Holton will join the San Diego Festival as this year’s “Festival Artist” and “Celebrity Artist,” respectively.  Flohr’s impressionist style paired with Holton’s embellished pop art bring together the classical and popular, creating a unique visual combination for all to see at the Festival, said Michelle Metter, the Festival’s co-producer.

“The art communities in California and throughout the nation have come to recognize the creative styles and masterful techniques exhibited throughout Holton’s and Flohr’s paintings,” said Metter.  “We are excited to have both extraordinary artists join us for this year’s Festival celebration.  Michael Flohr’s ability to capture the dynamics of people as they interact and Holton’s skill at turning cultural images into passionate works of art embody the life of the Festival and make them both natural choices as this year’s artists.”

Appearing as this year’s Celebrity Artist Michael Flohr, a San Diego native, has gained popularity due to the avant-garde tone and impressionistic color found in his paintings.  Flohr has blended the artistic elements of perspective, composition, and color to portray ordinary life experiences in a masterful way.  Flohr’s paintings combine static movement and urban content with a somber expressionist feel to create a genre that redefines impressionism.  Recently commissioned to create an album cover for musician David Patrone, Flohr has made a name for himself as one of the most acclaimed, emerging artists in the contemporary art world.

As this year’s Featured Artist, pop artist Robert Holton vividly portrays classic California icons and landmarks with a modern flair.  His ability to bring out the urban beauty and colorful images from the most mundane places has projected this artist into the public eye.  The unique drizzle effect enhances his paintings, turning each work into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Both artists will be present at this year’s San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival.  Celebrity Artist Michael Flohr will serve as emcee of the AIWF Celebrity Chef Luncheon and Live Auction.  In addition, an exhibit featuring a selection of Flohr’s paintings will be on display at the Grand Event on Saturday, November 21, 2009.

Featured Artist Robert Holton will create the official poster for the 6th Annual Festival.  The original art will be auctioned off at the AIWF Celebrity Chef Luncheon and Live Auction on November 22, 2009.  Holton will appear at the Reserve Tasting and Grand Event to sign copies of this year’s Festival poster and showcase his artwork.

Michael Flohr’s artwork can also be seen at Exclusive Collections Fine Art Galleries in Fashion Valley Mall or the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego.  Robert Holton’s paintings can be found at his Drizzle Studios located in Anaheim, CA and at Michael J. Wolf Galleries in San Diego.  Tickets for the 6th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival go on sale June 15.  A complete schedule and line up of events will be available at www.worldofwineevents.com in June!  For more information, visit the Web site or call 619-342-7337.
