ARTISTS DAVID TYRONE VILLA AND CHRISTOPHER M. FEATURED DURING
7TH ANNUAL SAN DIEGO BAY WINE& FOOD FESTIVAL
San Diego, (April 20, 2010) – The producers of the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival, Southern California’s largest wine and food extravaganza held November 17-21, 2010, announced today the selection of the Festival Featured and Official artists. San Diego native David Tyrone Villa and artist Christopher M. join the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival as this year’s “Festival Artist” and “Celebrity Artist,” respectively. Villa’s use of color to capture raw emotion, combined with Christopher M.’s realist creations are a perfect match to feature at this year’s Festival, said Michelle Metter, the Festival’s co-producer.
“It is a pleasure to have two of the art community’s finest artists join us for our 7th Annual Festival,” added Metter. “Villa’s ability to create a vivid reality that focuses on personal experience and social settings, mixed with the artistic flare for the culinary world of Christopher M., gives the Festival a unique diversity in artistic talent and style. The San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival is all about the love of excellent food and outstanding wine, and we are looking forward to featuring two artists that captivate this theme beautifully.”
Appearing as this year’s Celebrity Artist, Christopher M., has gained popularity due to his impressionistic styling that use luscious hues and rich textures to create a still-life composition in its simplest form, but with the complexity found only in an artist’s eye. Christopher M. has become nationally acclaimed as “The Painter of Chefs,” and has traveled across the nation to paint celebrity chefs in action.
As this year’s Featured Artist, David Villa uses oil painting as a sculptural experience that creates an intense expression of dimension and emotion. In each of his works, Villa invites the eye to decipher an image of beauty. With color telling the story, Villa urges art lovers to experience the energy that lies beneath each of his brush strokes.
Both artists will be present at this year’s San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival. Celebrity Artist Christopher M. will serve as emcee of the Celebrity Chef Luncheon & AIWF Big Bottle Live Auction. In addition, an exhibit featuring a selection of both artists paintings will be on display at the Grand Event on Saturday, November 20, 2010.
Featured Artist David Villa will create the official poster for the 7th Annual Festival. The original art will be auctioned off at the Celebrity Chef Luncheon & AIWF Big Bottle Live Auction on November 21, 2010. Villa will appear at the Reserve Tasting and Grand Event to sign copies of this year’s Festival poster and showcase his artwork.
